Station Road Bridge Gets a Makeover

The National Park Service (NPS) will close the Station Road Bridge Monday, November 16, 2020 through Friday, March 26, 2021 to remove and replace the bridge deck and paint the iron structure.

The Hemlock Creek Trail in Independence is finally becoming a reality, with a public groundbreaking planned for Saturday, June 2, 2018.

The 1.7-mile asphalt Hemlock Creek Trail will begin at Brecksville Road and Selig Drive in Independence in the west, then travel through parts of historic Independence and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). It will ultimately meet up at the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail as its eastern terminus.

The Cleveland Metroparks has been awarded a $7.95 million federal transportation grant to build more than four miles of bicycle and pedestrian trails in Cleveland, including a bridge to connect the existing Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail to Whiskey Island and Edgewater beach on the lakefront.
